The DS-156 Nonimmigrant Visa Application is used as part of what is
called "Consular Processing". It is completed by persons who request a
Visa to enter the United States. The DS-156 asks basic biographic
information and inquires as to why you want to enter the United States.
The information requested is simple and not complicated.
The DS-156 Nonimmigrant Visa Application is completed and submitted
to the National Visa Center who then forwards the document to the
appropriate U.S. Consulate. Once it arrives at the U.S. Consulate, they
will inform you of your interview date and time.
Please Note: if you are completing the documentation for a fiance visa, you
must use the form DS-156K.
